Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026 These terms apply to all purchases and commissions made through this website. By placing an order or confirming a commission, you agree to the following. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law. For questions, contact: contact@maryjaneansell.co.uk Commissioned Paintings
Deposit & Payment A non-refundable deposit is required to confirm a commission - typically 25% unless otherwise agreed. This secures the artist's time and resources. The balance is due upon completion, prior to delivery or collection. Any additional costs, such as travel, accommodation, or framing beyond standard options, will be quoted separately before work begins.

Sittings The client agrees to be available for the sittings required to complete the work to the artist's standard. Failure to attend a scheduled sitting without prior notice may result in forfeiture of the deposit and additional charges for rescheduling. Changes to the agreed concept or additional sittings requested by the client may incur additional fees.

Completion & Alterations The final decision regarding the completion of the work rests with the artist, following consultation with the client. Minor adjustments after completion may be accommodated at the artist's discretion; significant alterations may be charged additionally.
Cancellations Commissioned works are bespoke and made to the client's specification. As such, they are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. The deposit is non-refundable at any stage. Once the final work has been approved and delivered, no refund or adjustment will be made. Purchasing Artwork & Prints Delivery All orders are shipped via a tracked and signed-for service. UK orders are typically dispatched within 7 working days; during busy periods this may extend to 14 days. You will be notified of any delays. International delivery times vary by destination and are beyond our control once dispatched. Customers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes applicable in their country.
Your Right to Cancel (Online Purchases) If you purchase a print or original artwork online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel, contact us at contact@maryjaneansell.co.uk within this period. You must return the item within 14 days of notifying us of cancellation, in its original condition and packaging. Return postage costs are the buyer's responsibility unless the item is faulty or not as described. Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receiving the returned item.
Damaged Items All items are carefully inspected before dispatch. If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order details, a description of the damage, and photographic evidence. We will arrange a replacement or refund as appropriate.
